Sloan Dahl Willows
Sloan (Golda) Dahl Willows will turn 13 on February 11, 2026, and celebrate her Bat Mitzvah just a few days later, surrounded by the people who adore her. Born in Bellingham, Washington and now happily rooted in South Portland, Maine, Sloan has been immersed in Jewish life practically since infancy, starting Judaica school at just six months old at Temple Beth Israel. When her family moved cross-country in 2018, she continued her studies at Bet Ha’am, where she’s grown into a thoughtful, dedicated student of Jewish culture, and community.
Despite the curveballs life has thrown her way: a pandemic, her parents’ divorce, and more moves than any kid should have to navigate, Sloan has shown remarkable steadiness and heart. She’s a devoted friend, an incredible writer, a diligent student, and someone who brings curiosity and joy everywhere she goes. She loves theatre, dance, vocal studies and choir, yoga, time with her puppy Skipper, and—most of all—time with her friends. She’s also a full-blown fashionista who hopes everyone will join her in wearing pink on this joyful day.
Sloan’s Mitzvah Project reflects her creativity and generosity. She took the lead on the art program at Bet Ha’am, planning bi-monthly sessions throughout the year, reaching dozens of students with projects ranging from mitzvah pizza to mini sukkot, Hanukkah menorahs, fleece blankets for animal shelters, and more. Through her leadership, organizations received meaningful support, children deepened their connection to Jewish culture, and the school’s arts programming thrived.
It’s a profound joy for her family to see their heritage and lineage shine forward through Sloan. On February 21, her parents, Shultzie and Spencer, her grandparents Mark and Lynne and Suzy and Joe, and her aunts Rifka and Iris, along with her family, friends, and community, will come together to celebrate this extraordinary young woman and the milestone she has earned with so much heart.
We can’t wait to celebrate Sloan — in the month of love, in her favorite color, and in honor of all she has become (and becoming)!
